 The Potter's Guild Twice Annual Patio Sale is Saturday, November 8th and Sunday, November 9th, from 10AM to 4PM.

 
Throughout the patio, booths will be displaying clay art in a diversity of artwork.  Utilitarian, as well as artwork made of clay will be up for sale....raku, salt, sagger, and other manners of glazing will be displayed....

Come to enjoy, talk to the artists, purchase the art, and sit a spell and enjoy the live music, and tasty goodies.  All 37 working art studios will be open, too.....

Remember, Christmas is just around the corner!

and, we have the original art as gifts!

CLAY and SPRINGTIME

 If this is the case, then Brandon, my poodle  buddy, and I,  are right up there with Spiderman and Superman, because we rarely bark....what's there to bark at, here in beautiful Spanish Village?

We get plenty of belly rubs, tasty food, fresh water, and compliments aplenty. Lately, we've been watching Shirley and Elizabeth scampering between studio and the Potter's Guild...It must be time for the twice yearly Potters' Guild Show in the patio.

 We are looking forward to seeing you at the POTTERS' GUILD SPRING SALE which takes place on JUNE 14th & 15th, SATURDAY and SUNDAY, from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Come peruse the assortment of handmade clay items, both utilitarian and decorative.  Enjoy the clay artwork that is fired sagger, raku, salt, and more!  Every item is handmade albeit on a potter's wheel or hand sculpted...all original art.

The whole patio is covered with booths of clay work, manned by the clay artists whose creations are being displayed....they welcome any questions you might have of their work.
Come see the inside of the Potter's Guild in studio #29, listen to the live music and nosh on the goodies provided by the food booths....and remember to toss some tidbits to me and Brandon.  
It's lovely in Spanish Village, free to enter, has 37 working art studios, open to the public on  weekdays from 11-4, and on weekends from 11-5.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

 

This Sunday, April 21, 10AM-5PM, Balboa Park, including Spanish Village Art Center, is celebrating out annual Earth Day festivities.

Throughout the Park, informational and demonstrational booths will offer ways to help celebrate and appreciate Mother Earth, encouraging us to be conscientious caretakers of our Earth, acknowledging how she nurtures our ecology, our dependence on her.....knowing her well-being means our-well being.

As for me, a freshly dug hole to lie in, and the warm sun and nurturing rain, that goes to growing wheat, that feeds the cows, that makes the cheese, that makes the cheese pizzas on my whole wheat cheese pizza, that gives Anthony, the delivery person a job, and so much more to our economy/ecology.....

Earth is our Home.....Care and Protect Her!

It's drizzling this weekend, after weeks of heat and humid discomfort. I am hoping for a dry Saturday, because of the Doggy Halloween Costume Contest!

I am going to be a princess (and any other princesses better watch out!)...Miss Piggy and I have quite a bit in common....Brandon, my poodle buddy, is coming as Dean Martin, complete with cocktail glass.....and he's going to bring his buddy, Simon, as Frank Sinatra!...Old Blue Eyes!.....Studio 26 is giving out Halloween treats for the four legged friends....and the other studios are handing out Halloween treats for the trick or treaters....as for me, I am looking forward to just being beautiful and adored.

 

Everyone, come share the Halloween festivities, Saturday, October 27th in Spanish Village Art Center!

SUMMER CAMP at the VILLAGE

Good Morning, I've been rising earlier with the laughing, chattering, and excitement brought on by the kids who are attending the village's summer school program. Children, ages 6 and up, attend by the week, art classes taught by village artists....classes are held both in the morning and afternoon....Handsculpting with clay, objects made from natural fibers gleaned from the park,

acrylic painting, mixed media classes and so much more, offer children eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, use of art utensils, focus, color/pattern and shape appreciation, and a happy environment to introduce kids to art.

The creations made by the kids bring smiles to their faces, and an opportunity to make new friends, and good memories of Spanish Village Art Center. As for me, I love all the attention from the kids, especially when it's lunch time, Until later, much love, Bella

SQUIRREL GARDEN (Studio 26)

BEAUTIFUL SUNFLOWERS ARE IN BLOOM

Summer is here with its long warm days and mother earth celebrating. Erika, my rag doll cat companion, and I were lying underneath the sunflowers. Emily, the squirrel, and her friends must have planted this beautiful sunflower garden.....we enjoy the beauty now, and as it grows older, the blossoms will produce sunflower seeds for Emily and her friends to eat......the garden is in the alcove where studios 24, 25, 26 & 27 are located....drop by and enjoy the glass art, photographs, jewelry, baskets, and paintings in the alcove! In studio 26, there are doggy milkbones for my friends, and near the sunflower garden, fresh water for thirsty wagging tails. The village is open 7 days a week from 11am to 4 pm! Hope to see you! If your in Balboa Park today, stop by our village and see "Squirrel Garden" yep that's right "Squirrel Garden" SUNFLOWERS planted and well kept by our 4 entertaining Golden Red Tails squirrels. They are very vocal by chatters, growls and screeches. They love to chase each other up and down their handmade ladder built by artist. Find them at Studios 24-27.

MONARCH BUTTERFLY at TORO PARK

I was dozing under the jacaranda tree when I felt a slight touch on my nose.....opening my eyes, I saw this beautiful butterfly looking right at me.....and then she flew off....what must it feel like to fly??? I can only imagine. During this time of year, you can see different colored butterflies gracing our plants and flowers in Spanish Village. Occassionally, I see Priscilla or Erika jump on them for sport. ...to each their own, I say....you wouldn't catch me or Brandon doing such a ridiculous stunt.
